Experience & Practice
Before Mr. Schillinger founded his practice, he gained trial experience working in the New York State Office of the Attorney General and the Rensselaer County Public Defender’s Office. Mr. Schillinger also spent time as an associate in various private law firms working on a wide array of cases, including estate planning, corporate law, product liability, and personal injury. After gaining extensive experience with diverse cases, Mr. Schillinger opened his own firm to serve his community.
Mr. Schillinger has roots in Albany—he is a graduate of Albany Law School and the State University of New York College at Geneseo. As a student at Albany Law, he served as the managing editor for research and writing on the Albany Government Law Review.
In law school, Mr. Schillinger exhibited a natural talent for trial and appellate advocacy. Mr. Schillinger also worked as a teaching fellow for courses involving criminal law, constitutional law, and torts while attending Albany Law. This experience honed Mr. Schillinger’s knowledge and equipped him to be an effective criminal defense and personal injury lawyer.

Mr. Schillinger is licensed to practice law in the State of New York and the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, including the Criminal Defense section, Personal Injury section, and Products Liability section. He is also a member of the Albany County Bar Association. Mr. Schillinger has also been rated a Super Lawyer.

Outside of Work
Mr. Schillinger is an avid bicyclist. He has spent time as the president of the Capital Bicycle Racing Club, in Albany and holds a Category 3 USA Cycling Racing License. Combining his profession with his hobby, Mr. Schillinger writes for the Times Union Bike Blog, typically examining legal issues surrounding bicycling on open roads. Adirondack Sports and Fitness also publishes his work and recognizes him as an expert on bicycle use and the law in the streets of New York.
When he isn’t practicing law or racing bikes, Mr. Schillinger enjoys skiing and attempting to work on his vintage BMW—a hobby that has taught him that he is a much better lawyer than a mechanic!
